Responsibilities

Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants on patient care management, organization, and communication.

Exercise professional judgment to apply x‑ray energy for diagnosis or treatment of patients of all age groups.

Perform and analyze patient x‑rays and report results to Medical Providers.

Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of urgent care centers.

Summary / Job Description The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers or Medical Assistants in the examination and treatment of UCSF‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. Responsibilities include performing and analyzing patient x‑rays, reporting results, and providing administrative support.

Education

High School Diploma (required)

Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program (required)

Work Experience

Experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Licenses / Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire (obtained via American Red Cross or American Heart Association).

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration at time of hire.

State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required as applicable by state law.

Essential Functions

Provide x‑ray services as needed.

Under direction of the clinical provider, perform x‑ray services for patients of all age groups.

Ensure patients are positioned correctly and protected during use.

Assist with patient transport if required.

Patient Preparation & Rooming

Inform technical staff of patient flow.

Prepare patients for examination: conduct interviews, record medical history, confirm purpose of visit.

Perform preliminary physical test for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider.

Perform point‑of‑care testing as needed and provide information to provider.

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.

Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up.

Perform daily controls, calibration, and maintenance of equipment; log QA/QC activities.

Other Responsibilities

Collaborate with ordering/treating provider to determine best imaging procedures.

Explain procedures to patients and ensure comfort and safety.

Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging.

Select proper radiographic controls to capture clear diagnostic images.

Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X‑ray equipment.

Adhere to radiation safety protocols and ALARA principles.

Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures.

Verify image quality and ensure images are sent for interpretation.

Knowledge

Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols; anatomy and physiology.

Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards.

Skills

Position patients properly for X‑ray procedures.

Identify equipment problems and notify supervisor.

Follow infection control and radiological safety procedures.
