As a Design Release Engineer, the candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting vehicle programs and delivering world-class electrical systems.
Responsibilities
Design and release underbody and upper body wiring harnesses meeting cost, weight, quality, and timing targets.
Lead Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) and ensure compliance with Robustness Engineering disciplines (FMEA, P-Diagram, etc.).
Manage Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy for prototypes and production builds; maintain FEDEBOM and WERS throughout product lifecycle.
Support prototype and production build events, quality forums, and issue resolution during digital and physical development phases.
Define and verify engineering prototype requirements; perform harness complexity analysis and engineering cost estimates.
Drive design optimization proposals, benchmarking, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Ensure GPDS deliverables for each milestone and support change control processes.
Collaborate with manufacturing plants for part implementation and assist in resolving quality issues.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (Mexico/Central America).
Qualifications
Experience
5–10 years in wiring harness design and vehicle launch.
Basic 3D CAD knowledge (3DX preferred; CATIA/TeamCenter acceptable).
Familiarity with automotive systems.
Skills
Design Release Engineering for low-voltage wiring harnesses.
Knowledge of Six Sigma, 8D problem-solving, and Robustness Engineering.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering (preferred).
Additional
Strong English communication skills (written and oral).
Ability to manage time and projects effectively.
CAD design experience (3DX, CATIA, TeamCenter a plus).
Hybrid work model (4 days onsite).
