Overview
The Cook Children’s Hospitalist Team consists of approximately 38 physicians and 12 advanced practice providers (APPs), including nurse practitioners and physician assistants, who provide comprehensive inpatient care for pediatric patients across a wide range of diagnoses. Location

Hospitalist Group Shift & Hours
Third Shift (United States of America) 36 standard weekly hours Position Summary
The Hospitalist APP will admit and manage pediatric patients, performing thorough histories and physicals, formulating treatment plans, interpreting diagnostic tests, and addressing questions or concerns from patients, families, and bedside staff. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a team‑oriented environment with strong collaboration among APPs, physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff. Highlights & Support

Mentorship & growth: Ongoing professional development and mentorship opportunities throughout your career within our collaborative APP network. Flexible scheduling & work‑life integration: A self‑scheduling system managed by the APP Supervisor to support work‑life integration, allowing flexibility in shift selection and scheduling needs. Many APPs work two or three 12‑hour shifts per week, providing time for family, community involvement, and personal interests outside of work. Collaborative culture: A multidisciplinary team that values communication, compassion, and excellence in patient care. Education & Experience
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification required. Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.
Physician Assistants Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and a minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized areas strongly preferred. Licensure, Registration, & Certification
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses Current Texas professional registered nurse license Current Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse license Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner required Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
