POSITION Senior Attorney – Land Use
Location: Seattle, WA
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Represent clients before hearing examiners, planning commissions, city and county councils, administrative boards, and superior and appellate courts
Draft and/or oversee the drafting of briefs
Manage land use due diligence and permitting, including evaluating development opportunities, advising on project strategies, and guiding clients through the permitting process
Prepare due diligence and client advisory memos
Communicate strategically with planners, department directors, and elected officials
Draft new code provisions and guide them through city and county amendment processes
Participate in Land Use Group meetings and firm events
Contribute to business development initiatives
Handle regular communications (calls, emails, etc.)
Supervise junior attorneys, legal assistants, and potentially paralegals
Perform additional duties as needed

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
Undergraduate degree and JD from accredited institutions
Active WSBA membership
At least 8 years of experience as a Pacific Northwest land use attorney
Existing partial book of business is welcome, but not required
Outstanding writing and oral communication skills
Strong understanding of legal and land use concepts
Demonstrated business development success
Effective delegation and mentoring abilitiesExcellent judgment and the ability to explain complex issues clearly
Strong organization and project management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
High attention to detail and accuracy
Comfort working under tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (sit/stand desk available)
