Join to apply for the
Staff Product Manager, Card Experience
role at
Affirm
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without hidden fees or compounding interest.
The
Affirm Card
is at a massive inflection point. We have reached millions of cardholders inside our network, but we are just scratching the surface of a 150M+ external TAM. We are looking for a Staff Product Manager to own the critical “Pre‑Swipe” Experience – the defining moments between a user saying “yes” to the card and making their first purchase.
This is not just an optimization role; it is a 0→1 strategic ownership role. You will be responsible for the Activation Journey, New User Experience (NUX), and the Checkout experience, making the onboarding process “butter smooth” in an industry known for friction and turning complex financial compliance into a magical, instant consumer experience.
What You’ll Do
Own the “Pre‑Swipe” Vision: define the long‑term strategy for Card Activation and New User Experience, owning the roadmap from “Interested” to “Ready to Transact.”
Build 0→1 Growth Bets: identify and launch net‑new features that drive activation, such as gamified onboarding, instant wallet provisioning (Apple/Google Pay), or novel ‘first‑use’ incentives.
Obsess Over the Funnel: manage the end‑to‑end checkout and activation funnel, ruthlessly eliminating friction and optimizing for speed, clarity, and delight.
Cross‑Functional Leadership: act as the conductor for a complex set of stakeholders, partnering with Engineering, Design, Risk, Legal, and Compliance.
Navigate Complexity: work hand‑in‑glove with Risk, Legal, and Compliance to invent new onboarding methods that balance safety with speed.
Drive Activation Economics: own the metrics that matter—Time‑to‑First‑Transaction, 30‑Day Activation Rates, and Wallet Provisioning penetration.
What We Look For
7+ years of Product Management experience in consumer mobile apps, fintech, or neobanks.
Deep experience optimizing high‑stakes conversion flows (e.g., checkouts, sign‑ups, KYC) and understanding the psychology of user activation.
0→1 Builder Mentality: a history of launching new products or features from scratch that fundamentally changed user behavior.
Technical & Design Fluency: speak engineering (API constraints, latency) and hold a high bar for UI/UX.
Strategic Influence: lead without authority, aligning senior stakeholders and guiding embedded engineering/design pods through ambiguity.
Data‑Driven Intuition: fluent in SQL/Amplitude and use data to identify bottlenecks while employing product intuition to solve them.
Required either equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
