Primary Purpose This position provides guidance on historical designs, fosters innovation toward standardization, and offers technical leadership while mentoring engineers in the department. It involves clearance analysis, PLS-CADD modeling & design, and modifications or new installations of transmission structures, switches, and conductors for voltages at 69kV, 138kV, 345kV, and 765kV. The role requires coordination with FAA, environmental groups, permitting bodies, municipalities, and compliance with FERC and NERC regulations.
Primary Duties
Perform engineering assignments with independent discretion under guidance of an experienced engineer.
Execute tasks for large projects or multiple small projects, including complex power flow analysis and engineering tests.
Direct engineering tasks for large or multiple small projects, verifying and validating studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices.
Participate on teams and may lead teams.
Job Scope
Provide technical assistance in support of senior engineers, managers, and others.
Apply technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
2–4 years of professional engineering experience.
Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
Knowledge and ability to apply problem‑solving approaches and engineering theory.
Knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices.
General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary for the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training license.
Strong written and oral communication, presentation, report generation, and technical writing skills.
Interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with peers and managers.
Consulting and needs‑assessment skills.
Time, project management, and multitasking skills.
