Practice Coordinator 2 – UCSF Health Job Summary:

UCSF Medical Center is a patient-focused organization dedicated to enhancing health and well‑being through quality care, research and education. The Practice Coordinator serves as the public face of the practice and supports the administrative, clinical and management teams to ensure smooth practice operations and outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

Represent the practice as the public point of contact.

Support all administrative functions including messages, telephone encounters, referrals, APeX in‑baskets, scanning, filing, authorizations and billing.

Maintain routine clerical operations and communications in accordance with UCSF House and Telephone Standards.

Analyze situations, prioritize tasks and solve complex transactions independently.

Work at any UCSF campus and on a scheduled basis; available during core business hours.

Required Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent with 4 years of related experience; or college degree with 6 months related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and navigation of multiple patient record systems.

Ability to communicate effectively over the telephone and in person with patients, staff and providers.

Excellent customer service, organizational and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities under deadlines.

Basic math skills and proficiency in handling sensitive information.

Knowledge of medical practice terminology and experience with administrative/office coordination.

Successful completion of fingerprinting protocol and approval to be a cash collector.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in health care (patient scheduling, insurance verification, medical record abstraction or patient financial services).

Background with appointment, ancillary service or surgical scheduling.

Bi‑lingual or multi‑lingual capability (Spanish, Cantonese, or Russian) strongly preferred.

Prior experience using EPIC.
