Senior Consultant – Construction Advisory Practice
J.S. Held is actively seeking a Senior Consultant for our Construction Advisory Practice. The role focuses on claims and dispute resolution, delay analysis, project advisory services, construction cost analysis and controls, and construction planning and scheduling.
Job Description The position requires knowledge of contract and/or change order management, critical path scheduling analysis, preparation of change orders or claims, cost analysis and quantification of damages, review of drawings and specifications, and other engineering and construction‑related documents. Prior experience on active engineering or construction projects is highly preferred, or experience in claims and dispute resolution, delay analysis, project advisory services, construction cost analysis and controls, construction planning and scheduling.
Job Responsibilities
Review and assess project change orders, including scope, costs, and schedules
Review and analyze project schedules, including delay analysis
Analyze loss of productivity and inefficiency
Calculate damages including increased material, labor, or additional subcontractor costs
Analyze extended general conditions and other time‑related costs
Review and interpret drawings and specifications
Assist in preparation of expert reports and presentations
Lead small teams or professionals on engagements
Produce work products, draft memos, presentations, and reports
Travel as needed to project sites and client offices
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical) or Construction Management
4+ years’ experience with engineering or construction firms, or a construction claim/dispute firm
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Bluebeam, Adobe, or other PDF management software
Scheduling software – Microsoft Project or Primavera products
Hybrid office attendance required
Strong analytical aptitude and attention to detail
Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities
Estimating experience preferred but not required
Capability to develop Power BI dashboards preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Progress toward registration certification or professional license (e.g., Primavera P6, OSHA 10, PSP, PMP, PMI‑SP, PE, EIT, LEED, CSL)
Membership or participation in industry trade organizations
Physical and Mental Job Qualifications
Must be able to remain in a stationary position during work shift
Must be able to travel both in the United States and internationally

Salary Range Estimated salary range: $95,000 – $120,000 annually, depending on skill set, experience, location, and responsibilities.
