Summary King County Metro Transit's Bus Operations Division has an exciting opportunity for a project and process leader to fulfill the role of Senior Business Analyst. This position will be a crucial link between business needs and technology solutions, ensuring that our projects align with Metro's belief that transportation is a human right. The Senior Business Analyst is pivotal in understanding and analyzing business processes while championing equity, social justice, and inclusion within the organization.

Job Duties

Lead the Business Intelligence and Statistical Analysis work while supporting the Bus Operations Division.

Own all business processes and documentation related to Business Intelligence and Statistical Analysis, including work request intake, backlog management, prioritization, task management, training, monitoring, and acceptance criteria.

Develop and implement a visual management system for the division, gathering requirements, creating dashboards or tier boards, performing statistical analysis, teaching teams daily board utilization, coaching leaders on Leader Standard Work, and conducting internal audits.

Lead the BI & SA team in gathering current state, defining requirements, and documenting complex data through stakeholder interviews, surveys, workshops, data extraction, and analysis.

Analyze data to draw insights and make data‑driven recommendations; experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI is highly desirable.

Lead and facilitate meetings, prepare agendas, coach presenters, manage action items, and ensure effective follow‑up.

Lead change management initiatives by developing and executing adoption strategies, communicating with stakeholders, providing training, and monitoring progress.

Act as a coach and leader, fostering collaboration and support.

Maintain high organization throughout the role.

Manage projects with detailed plans, timelines, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.

Ensure exceptional customer service by engaging with customers and stakeholders, addressing concerns promptly, and providing effective solutions.

Create comprehensive documentation such as requirements specifications, use cases, data/process flow diagrams, business process models, and user stories.

Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Minimum bachelor's degree in Statistics, Business, Computer Science, or related technical field (preferred).

Three years of experience with statistical data analysis, reporting, and visualization, or equivalent education/experience.

Demonstrated ability to build teams, lead others, coach, mentor, and train adult learners.

Knowledge of Equity and Social Justice principles.

Advanced knowledge of analysis, design, development, and maintenance of complex business and data management systems.

Experience extracting and analyzing data, solving complex analytic problems, and making recommendations.

Knowledge of basic statistics and data analysis methods.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, including clear concise reports and presentations.

Experience with project management methodologies and tools.

Facilitation experience with small and large group meetings and workshops.

Ability to work with diverse backgrounds, breaking down barriers to communication and building collaborative relationships.

Strong customer service skills and knowledge.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge of process improvement methods such as Lean and Six Sigma.

Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or SQL.

Knowledge of group dynamics and change management methods.

Advanced knowledge of King County's administrative systems, policies, and procedures.

Experience working in a transit organization.

Experience designing and developing a Business Analyst Program.

Work Schedule Regular business hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Work outside these hours may occasionally be required. This position is classified as exempt under the FLSA and is not eligible for overtime. Flexible hours may be considered.

Work Location King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104. Employees may also need to visit any operating facility as business requires.

Telecommuting Requirement This hybrid role requires a combination of remote and onsite work at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and be within reasonable distance to their King County worksite. The current requirement is at least one day per week in the office.
