The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision‑making. This role combines managerial accounting oversight with financial planning and analysis to optimize the hotel’s performance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.

Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with company standards and local regulations.

Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review journal entries.

Conduct variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, forecasts, and prior periods.

Assist in preparing the annual budget and periodic forecasts.

Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support operational and strategic decisions.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare management reports for department heads and senior management.

Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and providing necessary documentation.

Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate policies.

Review and maintain internal controls to mitigate financial risks.

Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all accounting processes.

Collaborate with other hotel departments (e.g., operations, sales, revenue management) to optimize financial performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance, in the hospitality industry.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sun, Opera, ADP).

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.

Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Leadership abilities with the capacity to train and develop a finance team.

Ability to present complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.
