We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the billing process, subcontractor payments, and tracking the financial progress of projects. The ideal candidate will ensure financial data is accurately reported and analyzed in line with company and client contractual guidelines, providing essential support to the project management and accounting teams.

Base pay range $70,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities Technical:

Attend turnover meetings for all assigned projects.

Create and maintain a separate electronic “Project Folder” for each project, organizing documents including change orders, billings, and purchase orders.

Input contract information, budgets, change orders, and sub-modifications into ComputerEase.

Prepare project billing worksheets and assist Project Manager with monthly AIA billings.

Generate AIA billings and ensure they are sent to the owners.

Approve job‑related check requests and manage accounts payable for project‑related invoices.

Review overhead statements and ensure all job‑related invoices are ready to be processed.

Prepare weekly Project Accountant Checklist and submit to CFO and Controller.

Post monthly activity for Accounts Receivable and Payable to ensure timely month‑end close.

Attend monthly project review meetings and assist with project closeout.

Participate in special accounting projects as assigned.

Communication:

Maintain regular communication with Project Executive, Project Manager, and Project Coordinator to follow up on project issues and paperwork.

Provide clear, timely feedback to upper management, particularly regarding any potential problems.

Communicate effectively through email, phone, and reports.

Leadership and Attitude:

Demonstrate a positive, "can‑do" attitude and act as a role model.

Embrace change and contribute to the team’s adaptation to new directives or strategies.

Take initiative in identifying solutions and planning for future department needs.

Relationship Management:

Foster strong relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.

Provide excellent customer service to both clients and subcontractors, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.

Judgment and Decision Making:

Make timely, informed decisions based on analysis of facts.

Maintain confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive financial data.

Productivity and Quality:

Deliver high‑quality work in a timely manner, managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Maintain organized records and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.

Qualifications & Requirements

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Proficient in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.) and Microsoft Word.

Knowledge of accounting software (ComputerEase) required; familiarity with Procore is a plus.

Ability to read and interpret legal and financial documents.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education & Experience

Associate degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience (2‑3 years) in a similar role.

Previous experience in a construction or project‑based accounting environment is highly preferred.
