Salary and Benefits Base pay range: $83,104.00/yr – $153,982.00/yr. Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Qualifications

The basic requirements for employment as a VHA psychologist are prescribed by Public Law 96-151 codified in 38 U.S.C. 7402.

United States citizenship is required; non‑citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy.

Education: (1) Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the APA, PCSAS, or CPA at the time the program was completed. The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment. (2) Doctoral degree in any area of psychology plus successful completion of a re‑specialization program (including an approved internship). (3) Doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally‑accredited institution with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature.

Internships: Must have completed a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA, or meet one of the alternative criteria outlined in the description.

Licensure: Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Non‑licensed applicants may receive a temporary appointment as a graduate psychologist under specific conditions.

English language proficiency is required in accordance with VA Handbook 5005.

Grade determinations and required experience levels for GS‑11, GS‑12, and GS‑13 are listed, along with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) expected at each level.

Physical requirements: ability to sit for a long time and work alone and closely with others.

Duties

A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized; duties listed are GS‑13 Full Performance Level – GS‑11 and GS‑12 duties will differ in complexity and supervision.

Serve as staff psychologist for the PTSD Outpatient Clinic at the Seattle Division of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System.

Primary duties include psychological assessment and diagnosis, psychotherapy and counseling, consultation, and clinical supervision.

Provide comprehensive assessment and diagnostic services for veterans with a broad range of psychopathology, including complex cases requiring advanced psycho‑diagnostic skills.

Demonstrate expertise in contemporary interview and psychometric assessment methods for mental disorders and behavioral health conditions.

Educate patients and family members about mental disorders and best practices.

Deliver evidence‑based psychotherapeutic interventions (individual, family, group psychotherapy, psychoeducation). Provide consultation to health care providers regarding assessment findings and treatment plans.

Develop, implement, and document mental health treatment plans for an assigned caseload.

Comply with Service Line documentation requirements, CPRS patient contact notes, templates, clinical reminders, treatment plans, and risk assessment protocols.

At GS‑13, function independently as a member of the VAPSHCS Medical Staff with full clinical privileges and assume independent professional responsibility for clinical assessment findings and documentation.

Provide clinical supervision and instruction for psychology trainees (interns and/or postdoctoral fellows) and for medical residents, medical students, social work interns, and other trainees not enrolled in a psychology training program.

Assist the Team Leader and/or Program Director with program design, development, and implementation of clinical assessment and interventions.

Support ongoing program evaluation and data‑driven quality improvement projects and meet national and local performance measures.

Participate in administrative and informational meetings, monthly Psychology Service Staff Meetings, Psychology Training Faculty Meetings, and the biannual competency review.

Available schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
