Job Description The Strategic Customer Group Director leads key accounts for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines Puerto Rico, emphasizing co‑creation and partnership with US‑based teams. The role drives development, evaluation, and execution of market strategies and tactics for assigned products, ensuring alignment with broader US and global objectives. Acting as the corporate account lead for access and reimbursement strategies, the Director collaborates closely with US colleagues to leverage best practices and deliver innovative solutions. The position is externally focused, building deep relationships with Population Health Decision Makers (PHDMs), stakeholders, and industry partners to drive growth and access.

Key Responsibilities

Co‑Creation & Collaboration: Partner intensively with US teams and cross‑functional groups to co‑create strategies, share insights, and align on business objectives. Participate in joint planning sessions, leveraging US market intelligence and resources to enhance Puerto Rico initiatives. Serve as a bridge between Puerto Rico and US teams, ensuring seamless communication and knowledge transfer.

External Focus & Market Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of strategic business plans to secure contracts and expand sales with PHDMs and other key customer segments. Build and nurture strong external relationships with leaders in health systems, integrated delivery networks, pharmacy benefit managers, medical groups, regulatory agencies, and advocacy organizations. Maintain a pulse on market trends, competitor activities, and evolving customer needs, proactively adapting strategies to stay ahead.

Account Management & Access Strategy: Serve as the expert on account management, access, and reimbursement, coordinating with other Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines operating companies and US teams for contract negotiations and strategic initiatives. Lead proposal development, risk assessment, and presentation of business cases to senior management. Develop and implement annual strategic business plans, leveraging key account and market intelligence from both Puerto Rico and US sources.

Elevating Local Capabilities & Market Access Knowledge: Champion the development of local expertise in market access, ensuring the team is equipped with the latest tools, resources, and best practices. Organize and lead training sessions, workshops, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives focused on market access trends, regulatory changes, and innovative approaches. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development, encouraging team members to stay current on market access strategies and external environment shifts. Collaborate with US teams to adapt and implement global market access frameworks locally, tailoring solutions to the Puerto Rico context.

Operational Excellence: Oversee contract administration, ensuring compliance with business practices and regulatory requirements. Establish and continuously improve contract management policies and procedures. Maximize Key Account Managers’ activity and outcomes by setting clear objectives, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing coaching and support. Directly supervise the Key Account Managers, ensuring their engagement and effectiveness with PHDMs and other stakeholders aligns with strategic goals. Implement tools and processes to track Key Account Managers’ engagement with PHDMs and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Represent the organization in internal and external forums, championing the value of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines products and solutions.

Leadership & Team Development: Directly supervise the Strategic Customer Group Manager and Advocacy & Access Services Professional. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer‑centricity across the team and with US partners.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Achievement of access and reimbursement objectives for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines products with PHDMs.

Number and quality of strategic partnerships established with PHDMs and key external stakeholders.

Growth in sales and market share within targeted accounts and segments.

Successful co‑creation and implementation of joint initiatives with US teams.

Improvement in local market access capabilities, measured by training participation, knowledge assessments, and adoption of best practices.

Key Account Managers’ activity levels and outcomes, including stakeholder engagement, contract execution, and business impact.

Compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Team development metrics, such as retention, engagement, and professional growth.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Business, Marketing, or related field required.

10+ years of strategic marketing and/or sales experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with demonstrated success in account management and working with PHDMs.

Proven experience collaborating with US‑based teams and leading cross‑market initiatives.

Strong external orientation, with a track record of building partnerships and driving business growth through customer engagement.

Finance background and experience with advocacy/provider relations preferred.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency required.

Ability to travel within and outside Puerto Rico (up to 25%).
