Senior Project Manager – Healthcare / Education / Institutional Construction

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex healthcare, educational, and institutional construction projects throughout the Chicagoland region. This individual will oversee ground‑up, renovation, and phased occupied‑facility projects while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and client satisfaction remain top priorities.
Ideal candidates will bring 5–10 years of commercial project management experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a track record of successfully delivering projects in active or sensitive environments such as hospitals, universities, labs, or schools.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout on healthcare, educational, and institutional facilities.
Lead ground‑up, renovation, and addition projects ranging from $1M–$75M+.
Maintain compliance with ICRA, ILSM, life‑safety protocols, and infection control requirements on healthcare projects.
Coordinate complex phasing, temporary controls, and logistics plans for occupied buildings and campus environments.
Collaborate closely with owners, facilities teams, architects, engineers, and regulatory authorities.
Oversee and mentor project teams including APMs, PEs, and field staff.
Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules (CPM), budgets, forecasts, buyout strategies, and financial reports.
Review and approve submittals, RFIs, change events, procurement logs, and pay apps.
Conduct and lead OAC and subcontractor coordination meetings.
Ensure adherence to contract documents, quality standards, safety plans, and regulatory requirements.
Oversee subcontractor performance, manage disputes, and proactively resolve project challenges.
Drive project closeout: punch lists, turnover packages, commissioning, and facility handover.
Qualifications
5–10 years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial or institutional construction.
Proven experience delivering healthcare (OSHPD/ICRA), higher education, K–12, municipal, or public‑sector projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of building codes, regulatory requirements, and compliance procedures for sensitive environments.
Proficiency with construction management platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, P6, etc.
Exceptional communication, documentation, and client‑facing skills.
Ability to manage multiple active projects and complex schedules.
