Job Summary

Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Surgery & Department of Medicine and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to the Berkeley Cancer Outpatient Practice and Infusion Center. The APP may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their ‘scope of practice,’ which includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy), routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures. The APP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and demonstrates self‑direction and accountability in the development of this role across all UCSF medical center locations. All Advanced Practice Providers (APP) must be credentialed through the Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) before their first working day; credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes 30‑60 days.

Responsibilities

The APP will provide outpatient care in approved age groups at UCSF Health settings, performing complex physical assessments, triage, patient education, care coordination, chemotherapy/biotherapy administration, and other tasks within their scope of practice.

Qualifications

Two to five years APP inpatient oncology experience in adult population Two years of APP outpatient Infusion Center experience in adult population Demonstrated clinical experience in oncology care, including chemotherapy/biotherapy administration, patient education, and care coordination Strong interpersonal skills Skill to perform complex physical assessment Triage skills Problem solving ability Ability to work well with all healthcare providers Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations and varying schedules

Preferred Qualifications

Two or greater years NP experience in orthopaedics, including independent ambulatory patient encounters and surgical first assisting in total joint replacements Specialty certification: RNFA

License/Certification

California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position Current national certification from an accepted agency, to be provided by first day of work (accepted certifications include A‑GNP‑C, ANP‑C, FNP‑C, GNP‑C, AGPCNP‑BC, ANP‑BC, FNP‑BC, GNP‑BC, ACNP‑BC, AGACNP‑BC, ACNPC‑AG, ACNPC) Current and active RN and NP and furnishing license in California Complete a BRN‑recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner Complete DEA registration with schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day; CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments Current AHA BLS and required AHA certifications State regulation requires a supervising physician to practice

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $100.48 – $130.31 per hour. Final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
