What to Expect As a member of the Vehicle Controls team, you will work closely with our Fleetnet Team on advancing the capability of Tesla's in-house fleet-management algorithms that will optimally manage day-to-day operations of our fleet of Robotaxis to maximize customer happiness and operational efficiency.

You will apply a combination of strong skills in statistical analysis and operations research, to help develop state-of-the-art systems. You will work on problems including developing optimal matching and dispatching policies, and real-time fleet management logic for the Tesla Robotaxi experience.

What You'll Do

Analyze large-scale data from our fleet to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency of the Robotaxi fleet (pickup times, deadhead miles, etc.)

Design and implement optimization algorithms to manage Robotaxi fleet operations

Collaborate with Tesla Fleetnet Software Engineers to implement and deploy these algorithms at scale

Design and implement test plans and tools to measure efficacy and ensure quality of fleet management algorithms

Collaborate with Validation teams to ensure regression are prevented and rollouts are successful

Technical communication of analysis results and tradeoffs to decision makers and cross-functional teams

What You'll Bring

Degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability

Fluency with exploratory statistical analysis and testing on large data sets

Strong fundamental background and experience in operations research techniques used to solve fleet management/logistics problems

Strong evidence of ability to ground-up design, analyze, and implement an optimization scheme for any real-world system

Strong understanding of operations research toolchains and their trade-offs

Strong evidence of ability to collaborate cross-functionally, work hands-on, and execute on open-ended projects in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment

Proficiency in Python and Golang, and experience in collaborative code development

Expected Compensation $133,440 - $355,920/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
