Hiring Physician (Gastroenterologist) – Lovely Harlingen, TX

Overview

The VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System is seeking a Gastroenterologist to provide comprehensive care for patients with illnesses within the scope of Gastroenterology, with a focus on hepatitis. This position will be located at the Health Care Center, Ambulatory Surgery Center in Harlingen, TX.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary, secondary, and tertiary care in both hospitalized and outpatient settings.
• Identify patients’ health problems and design diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
• Coordinate activities of other health service personnel, resolve issues affecting patient care, and educate patients and families about care, illness, and management.
• Allocate sufficient time to administrative duties as needed.

Procedures

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy/colonoscopy procedures.

Pay and Benefits

• Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Annual Compensation Estimate: $340,000.
• Paid Time Off: 50–55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and up to 5 days paid CME).
• Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5‑year vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% VA contribution.
• Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long‑term care (many federal programs transferable to retirement).
• Licensure: One full, unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
• CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full‑time with board certification).
