Overview
Assistant Chief Counsel role at Caltrans District 3 supervises a group of attorneys, coordinates complex legal areas, and provides statewide legislative program support.
Responsibilities
Supervise a group of attorneys involved in litigation and other legal activities. Coordinate complex and/or major specialized areas in the Legal Division. Provide statewide responsibility for the Department's legislative program. Work in a climate-controlled office building with occasional travel to Division’s Legal Offices.
Qualifications
State Bar of California license. Valid driver’s license. Proficient knowledge of civil litigation laws, regulations, trends, practices, and the California Code of Civil Procedure, California Evidence Code, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, California Government Code, and the California Insurance Code. Knowledge of law relating to public transportation issues and federal aid statutes. Experience at a supervisory and/or management level in the Department of Transportation or comparable agency. Demonstrated ability to plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work of a program of professional legal staff. Ability to act as legal advisor to top management, including formulation of legal policy and recommendation of strategic changes.
