Pay Range Base pay range: $124,531.00/yr - $161,889.00/yr.

Organization Department of Homeland Security, Office of Human Resources Management, People Analytics Division. Locations: Indianapolis, IN; Minneapolis, MN; Washington, D.C.

Duties

Serve as an expert analyst and advisor to senior management, applying computer theory, algorithms, data structures, programming, and computer architecture to support HRM.

Apply advanced data science techniques (data extraction, transformation, cleaning, modeling, machine learning, AI) to structured and unstructured data.

Interpret large, unstructured datasets for forecasting and data‑driven decisions in HRM and CBP operations.

Gather, process, and clean raw data from multiple systems into organized information.

Prepare reports, visualizations, and present findings to partner organizations within HRM.

Represent HRM in data science matters during agency planning and research development.

Requirements

U.S. Citizen. Males born after 12/31/1959 must register with Selective Service.

Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.

Pre‑employment processes conducted in English.

May require background investigation and drug testing per DHS Drug‑Free Workplace Plan.

Adherence to federal ethics and conflict‑of‑interest statutes.

Eligible for E‑Verify.

Not covered under bargaining unit.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

OR combination of 30 semester hours in a major field plus additional education/experience.

Experience:

One year of specialized experience at a GS‑13 equivalent, performing advanced statistical techniques (regression, time‑series forecasting), data extraction, quality assurance, agile tools (Jira, GitLab, Confluence), and UI/UX design for data visualization.
