AR & Credit Director / Senior Manager

Overview A private equity–backed distribution company is seeking a senior-level
AR & Credit leader
to support a critical transformation period following recent acquisitions. This is a newly created, high-impact role with significant visibility and the opportunity to build scalable processes across multiple operating brands.
This role will work closely with the CFO and Controller and will be instrumental in cleaning up legacy processes, improving cash flow, and standing up a best‑in‑class AR and credit operation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee
accounts receivable and credit operations
Assess, redesign, and implement
credit policies, approval processes, and risk controls
to better manage customer credit exposure
Drive improvements in
cash collections, DSO, bad debt exposure, and dispute resolution
Build and transition toward a
shared services AR function , consolidating teams and processes across the businesses
Manage and mentor an AR team through a period of transition, cross‑training, and process change
Partner closely with Finance leadership on reporting, forecasting, and cash flow visibility
Navigate and optimize work across
two ERP systems
(one legacy, one enterprise‑level), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strong internal controls
Support system cleanup, data integrity, and process standardization efforts during and after the transition
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Operations, and Finance to align credit strategy with commercial objectives
Ideal Candidate Profile
10+ years of progressive experience in
Accounts Receivable, Credit, and Collections , ideally within distribution, manufacturing, or adjacent industries
Strong
credit management expertise , including evaluating customer creditworthiness, setting limits, and managing risk in credit‑heavy businesses
Proven experience leading AR teams through
change, integration, or shared services transformations
Hands‑on leader who can operate at both the
strategic and executional level
Experience working in
private equity–backed environments
or fast‑paced, transformation‑oriented organizations
ERP experience is a must; exposure to
Great Plains
is a strong plus
Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with senior finance leadership
