Research Administrator / Finance Analyst

Join the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability to serve as a Research Administrator / Finance Analyst. This role is essential for managing faculty financial portfolios, including research awards, budgets, and industrial affiliate programs. About the Position Full‑time, hybrid eligible, Grade I Location: Stanford, CA Pay Range: $121,639 – $142,078 per annum Your Responsibilities Will Include Manage proposal preparation and post‑award activities for a large volume of complex federal and non‑federal sponsored research projects. Prepare complex proposals, oversee submission processes, resolve issues. Develop, prepare, revise, and finalize project budgets and budget justifications. Collaborate with Office of Sponsored Research to ensure awards are set up correctly and cost‑sharing requirements are met. Review and approve expenditures, advise on post‑award spending, oversee compliance related to funds. Develop and communicate reports supporting project status; create forecasting models and decision aids. Manage contract closeout process and audit inquiries. Interpret university and government policies (FAR, CAS, OMB circulars) and guide staff. Manage comprehensive financial portfolios, provide periodic status reports, perform year‑end close tasks. Manage Industrial Affiliate Programs, serve as liaison, prepare invoices, agreements, and renewals. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree and five years of job‑related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Expert knowledge of governmental regulations (FAR, Uniform Guidance, CAS). Understanding of university policies and procedures. Excellent oral, written, and communication skills. Strong analytical skills; proficiency in Excel and web‑based tools. Strong accounting skills and knowledge of accounting principles. Experience with procurement, vendor requirements, and small business reporting. Knowledge of property management requirements for Stanford or non‑Stanford equipment. Project management experience for international collaborations and multi‑sub‑award contracts. Knowledge of personnel management and staff hiring processes. Exceptional attention to detail and time management. Certifications and Licenses Cardinal Research Administration Foundational Training (CRAFT) I and II required. Certified Accountant or Auditor, MBA, project management certification, or similar credential desirable. Physical Requirements Frequently sit, use a computer, lift and carry objects up to 10 lbs. Occasionally stand, walk, write by hand, and handle paperwork. Rarely lift 11–20 lbs. Preferred Qualifications Degree in accounting and grants management experience at Stanford or higher education.
