This is a fixed‑term position (January 2026 – December 2026), benefits‑eligible with a standard four‑day work week (8 : 00 am – 5 : 00 pm). The role may become hybrid after a trial period. Background check required.
Position Summary The Center seeks an experienced candidate to oversee financial day‑to‑day operations, plan, forecast, and manage all financial and research administration activities in compliance with Stanford policies. Responsibilities include expenditure reconciliations, revenue reporting for endowments and gifts, purchases, reimbursements, ledger transactions, journal entries, and sponsor‑project administration. The analyst will provide management reports, present to the CASBS Board of Directors, and communicate policy requirements to the entire CASBS community.
Core Duties
Perform and design ad‑hoc analyses of large, complex data sets; reconcile complex accounts and resolve cross‑functional issues.
Construct and assemble data for budgeting and decision‑making; develop conclusions and present high‑level recommendations.
Conduct analysis, recognize exceptions, and develop solutions requiring policy changes or new processes.
Execute internal control programs; research new regulations and recommend implementation of approved changes. May manage a compliance program and create compliance reports.
Develop reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics for management and third‑party stakeholders.
Participate as a member of project teams, support new initiatives, and make decisions on process implementation.
Contribute to unit and organizational strategy; assist in change‑management plans and materials.
Develop and maintain procedures and documentation for responsibilities.
Define requirements, develop and implement complex test cases, perform system testing, and analyze results.
Analyze existing systems and processes to identify improvement opportunities.
Provide consulting advice to client groups; serve as a resource on technical, financial, or subject‑matter expertise; support negotiations with external partners.
Act as liaison between principal investigators, Office of Sponsored Research, research groups, and other departments; respond to sponsor inquiries.
Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Research to ensure awards are set up properly and cost‑sharing requirements are fulfilled.
May supervise, train, coach, and review the work of other staff as needed.
Other routine duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Advanced proficiency in business applications, especially Microsoft Office and Excel.
Knowledge of financial systems and computer literacy.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Strong communication skills, including preparing materials for internal and external audiences.
Project‑management skills and ability to contribute to or lead parts of multi‑functional teams.
Previous Stanford University experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Constant sitting, desk‑based tasks, phone use, handwriting.
Occasional standing/walking, lifting/carrying 11‑20 pounds.
Rarely reach/work above shoulder level.
