FINANCE MANAGER - DINING SERVICES - UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is hiring a Finance Manager to support our Dining operations at the University of Chicago main campus. You will lead accounting and finance activities for the large dining services account supported by Chartwells and assist the Director of Finance with all financial activities in the region. The role focuses on accuracy, internal controls, financial analysis, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure all accounting activity within the account is performed accurately and completely.

Ensure all account procedures conform with strict internal control requirements to safeguard assets.

Perform reconciliation and analysis for several balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.

Analyze financial results including KPIs for internal and external use.

Understand contractual financial terms to ensure Chartwells compliance.

Develop forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunities.

Review weekly general ledger activity and prepare correcting entries as needed.

Participate in building proformas for new business and account retention.

Complete financial reports monthly, quarterly and annually as needed.

Train, mentor and develop unit accounting and clerical staff and provide financial guidance to operational account managers.

Prepare and present financial summaries for internal and client leadership.

Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (strongly preferred).

Food service accounting experience preferred.

Minimum five years hands‑on experience required.

Experience supporting operations strongly preferred.

Strong Excel analytic skills required.

Ability to prepare key metric reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and analyses.

Proven ability to work closely with teams and client partners.

Strong communicator able to explain financial and accounting principles to various levels of management and support personnel.

Adept at planning, organizing and controlling complex processes and preparing and analyzing moderately complex financial models.

Experience with POS, cash and credit card reports.

Skilled at managing multiple priorities and relationships.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a concentration in Excel.
