Salary: $71,509.00 – $75,273.00
Position Summary Represent Pacific Coast Companies Inc. (PCCI) and its sister subsidiaries in a variety of litigation matters, including employment law, OSHA concerns, construction defects, collections, and any other issues that arise. Provide senior management with effective advice on improving company processes based on litigation outcomes.
Supervision Received Works under the general guidance of the Chief Legal Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Represent PCCI and/or its subsidiaries in wrongful termination, wage and hour, PAGA and other employment-related litigation; pursue accounts receivable in residential and/or commercial construction; handle OSHA citations; address construction defect matters; and manage other litigation issues as they arise.
Advise all levels of management and field personnel at the parent’s and subsidiaries’ levels on legal matters and the legal implications of all matters.
Conduct research for both transactional and litigation matters as needed.
Oversee, manage, and strategize with outside counsel for class actions and other complex litigation.
Ensure compliance or recommend alternative actions to meet legal, contractual, corporate, and risk‑management policies, minimizing and limiting corporate liability, managing risk, and optimizing contract value.
Participate in developing corporate legal policies, procedures, and programs for PCCI and its subsidiaries.
Coordinate responses to subpoenas.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent and five (5) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents; respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; write complex reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; present information to top management, boards of directors, and public groups.
Reasoning Ability:
Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form; handle abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
Operate a personal computer, related software, and standard office equipment necessary to complete duties.
License:
CA Bar License required.
Physical Demands
Reach with hands and arms; stand, walk, sit; use a computer for significant time throughout the day.
Bend at the waist; lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Travel may be required depending on litigation load and locations.
Regular in‑office attendance is required.
Work Environment
Office environment with moderate noise.
