Summary We are actively growing our staff across the country and are seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Director for our Construction group. The selected candidate will create and implement a national EHS program to ensure compliance and safety throughout all developmental and construction stages of complex data center building and site construction projects. You will be supported, mentored, and empowered by the Director of Construction, offering the opportunity to grow with the company and partner with team members across the country.

Primary Responsibilities

Create and implement a scalable EHS program to ensure compliance and safety throughout all stages of complex data center building and site construction projects, from concept and design development through construction, commissioning, and operational turnover.

Assess and manage operational EHS risks and develop key strategies to mitigate potential hazards.

Conduct site visits, inspections, audits, and reviews to identify EHS deficiencies and establish corrective measures.

Maintain adherence to all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, including obtaining necessary permits.

Investigate workplace incidents, determine root causes, and recommend preventive actions.

Identify training needs based on operational risks and ensure workforce training meets legal standards.

Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support and scale the national EHS program.

Participate in drafting and reviewing Construction Methods of Procedures (CMOPs).

Provide both tactical and strategic leadership to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, prevent injuries, and manage environmental issues.

Conduct compliance reviews and site safety assessments to evaluate EHS performance and identify improvement opportunities with contractors.

Drive a pervasive and dynamic safety culture on all sites through varied strategies and implementations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in construction management is preferred, but not required.

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in construction safety management in mission-critical or equivalent build typology.

Certifications in one or more of the following: Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Other certifications may also be considered.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to motivate and mentor staff.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and construction project management software (Procore, others).

Experience interacting with government authorities on EHS issues.

Willingness to travel.

Initiative, self-direction, and attention to detail.

Ability to adapt to a changing work environment, manage competing demands, and navigate unforeseen issues or delays.
