Director of Project Accounting
We’re partnering with a well-established, privately held real estate development firm to hire a Director of Project Accounting. This is a senior leadership role overseeing project accounting across a large, multi-entity development portfolio. This position provides strategic oversight of project accounting operations, financial reporting, controls, and process optimization.
What You’ll Do
Lead the project accounting function across multiple active development projects
Oversee job costing, capitalized costs, budget-to-actual tracking, and draw activity
Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
Ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Establish and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and accounting calendars
Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
Lead audit and tax coordination with external advisors
Drive system enhancements, process improvements, and scalability initiatives
Collaborate closely with development, legal, and operations teams
Mentor and support senior accounting leadership and team development
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior leadership
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, project accounting, and multi-entity structures
Experience with real estate accounting systems (Yardi, MRI, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills and a hands‑on leadership style
