Senior Network Architect – SME LAN/WAN, and DW/DM
GovCIO is currently hiring for a Senior Network Architect/SME in Service Provider Backbone, LAN/WAN and DWDM for our NIH‑CIT proposal. This position is located in Bethesda, MD and is a remote/hybrid position.
Responsibilities
Coordinate with the Section Manager to evaluate, design, and test architecture designs and services from the roadmap backlog.
Lead the transition of user‑accepted designs and services to the Operations and Security Teams.
Provide subject‑matter expertise in Service Provider backbone.
Provide subject‑matter expertise in Enterprise‑level LAN/WAN.
Provide subject‑matter expertise in Enterprise‑level DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexing).
Strategically plan, architect, design, engineer, develop, test, implement, modernize, and enhance the functional capabilities, capacity, and performance of the NIH Network and TIC Services in alignment with NIH future‑state architecture objectives.
Software and hardware installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance.
Team with the Security Section to achieve security architecture requirements.
Maintain technical architecture documentation.
Troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Change management.
Support resources responsible for security implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and vulnerability remediation.
Strategic & transformative planning for network architecture services.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of related experience (or commensurate experience).
Required Skills and Experience
CCIE Certification: Written and practical.
Specializations (in order of importance): Routing and Switching, Service Provider, Data Center, Wireless.
Clearance required: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Posted Pay Range USD $108,310.00 – $149,027.00 per year. Base pay offered may vary depending on individualized factors. The total compensation package may include other elements, discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at‑will” position and GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary at any time.
