Job Summary:
We are looking for a reliable and organized Shipping & Receiving Associate to join our logistics hub in Durham, North Carolina. This critical role involves the efficient management of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring the smooth flow of goods through our distribution center. You will be responsible for unloading inbound deliveries, verifying contents against purchase orders, and accurately stocking received items. On the outbound side, you will process outgoing shipments, ensuring orders are accurately picked, packed, labeled, and staged for carrier pickup. Strong attention to detail is essential to maintain inventory accuracy and prevent errors. This position requires a proactive approach to safety, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to all warehouse safety protocols. You will be interacting with various carriers and internal teams, making clear communication skills important. The ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and effectively is a plus. Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming freight from trucks using appropriate equipment.
- Verify inbound shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Inspect goods for damage and report discrepancies.
- Accurately receive and record inventory into the WMS.
- Stage outgoing shipments for carriers, ensuring correct orders are consolidated.
- Prepare shipping documentation and labels.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and wear required PPE at all times.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, team members, and management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or general warehouse operations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent lifting up to 60 lbs.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all logistics procedures.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
- Must possess a strong work ethic and be reliable.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
