Job Summary $5,000 sign‑on bonus available for candidates with Acute Care experience. This is an inpatient position within Saint Francis/St. Mary’s Hospitals Rehabilitation Services. The Entry Level Occupational Therapist (Occupational Therapist 1) reports to the Clinical Supervisor and provides both direct and indirect patient care services for adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Candidates with specific pediatric competencies may also work with infants, children, or adolescents.

Under general direction and upon receipt of licensed, approved provider written referrals, the Occupational Therapist plans and administers a full range of OT services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and functional limitations. Services include patient evaluations, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and programs, and implementation of intervention plans using OT techniques. The Occupational Therapist demonstrates practice competence with straightforward clinical presentations and may require mentoring or supervision in high acuity settings or when working with complex patients.

The Occupational Therapist maintains all applicable patient records, may supervise support personnel including Rehabilitation Aides, seeks opportunities for ongoing clinical education, and participates in compliance, quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives within the department and organization.

Required Qualifications

MS or MA degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

Less than one year of licensed clinical practice experience.

Minimum one full‑time fieldwork education experience in acute care hospital or acute rehabilitation setting.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Ability to recognize signs of distress.

Basic computer skills, including work within Epic electronic medical record.

Good interpersonal, time‑management, problem‑solving, and self‑initiation skills.

Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

Prior experience providing patient care in acute care hospital and acute rehab/IRF patient care setting.

Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team.

License and Certification

Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California.

Possession of or proven eligibility for AHA BLS certification.
