Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking a Senior Director to drive the execution of our research & development strategy across Digital & Robotics. This hybrid role is available in multiple U.S. locations, including Boston, MA; Raynham, MA; Palm Beach, FL; West Chester, PA; Raritan, NJ; and Warsaw, IN. The successful candidate will build and lead the strategic R&D roadmap, oversee portfolio performance, and deliver operational excellence across discipline‑bound teams. Job Overview
This leader will be responsible for the R&D Digital & Robotics department’s operational aspects, creating performance dashboards, consolidating budgets, and providing real‑time insights to senior leadership. Responsibilities
Drive R&D budget planning, coordination, and consolidation for Digital & Robotics, working with finance and other leaders. Serve as key liaison with finance business partners, ensuring best‑in‑class R&D financial plans that bridge robotics, digital, and capital initiatives. Lead business partnership for Digital & Robotics R&D on special projects and critical business initiatives, including gross profit and NPV analyses. Administer uniform operating mechanisms, process improvements, meeting setups, communications, and content cadence across project groups. Shape and deliver consistent partnership across Digital & Robotics R&D projects for Supply Chain & SCR reviews. Maintain executional alignment across R&D and supporting functions/COE’s. Provide input on R&D management reviews, scenario development, trade‑off implications, and capital improvement opportunities. Lead Digital & Robotics R&D leadership team meeting agendas and cadence, ensuring efficient decision‑making and action‑item follow‑through. Build organizational knowledge of external R&D trends and best practices, applying insights where appropriate. Consolidate and provide R&D input for senior ad‑hoc management requests, monthly reporting, and quarterly executive reviews. Own input across Digital & Robotics R&D for shaping goals & objectives and reporting progress across R&D. Drive strategic special initiatives to improve operational excellence and impact on innovation and growth. Lead Digital & Robotics R&D organizational town halls and communications processes. Qualifications
Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent required. Medical Device/Orthopaedics or regulated industry experience highly preferred. Minimum of 15 years of people leadership experience highly preferred. Experience in process optimization for multi‑disciplinary regulated systems. Expert detailed orientation and organizational skills. Strong project and portfolio management skills in digital organizations. Strong change leadership skills with demonstrated influence in matrixed environments. Solid collaboration skills in complex environments. Demonstrated succession management and accelerated innovation in Digital & Robotics. Deep experience in strategic plan execution, business acumen, and partnership building. Track record of driving capital delivery for product development. Ability to influence major change initiatives and lead diverse, inclusive teams. Effective decision‑making and change‑management experience. Experience in R&D transformations – building, scaling, deploying. Up to 25% domestic and international travel required. Compensation & Benefits
Base pay range: $178,000 – $307,050. Eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with company guidelines. Includes medical, dental, vision, life, short‑term and long‑term disability, group legal insurance, 401(k), and long‑term incentive program.
