Job Description We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Director R&D Strategy & Operations. This hybrid role is available in multiple US cities. The Sr Director Strategy & Operations R&D Digital & Robotics plays a critical strategic and operational role in ensuring effective execution of our research & development strategy. This leader will build and lead the execution of a strategic R&D roadmap, initiatives, and special projects that deliver multi‑platform improvements to people, culture, process, products and infrastructure opportunities identified in partnership with leadership.

Responsibilities

Drives R&D Budget planning process/updates, coordination and full consolidation/roll‑up for Digital & Robotics R&D in partnership with other leaders/supporting functions to ensure a robust, well‑coordinated budget plan across Digital & Robotics.

Serves as key Digital & Robotics R&D liaison with finance business partners, providing day‑to‑day business partnership to deliver a best‑in‑class R&D financial plan that bridges across Robotics, Digital & Capital.

Leads business partnership for Digital & Robotics R&D on all special projects and critical business initiatives planning and consolidation for roll‑up (e.g., gross profit, freshness index, NPV values).

Directly responsible for administering uniform operating mechanisms, process improvements; leads and owns meeting setup, communications and content cadence across project groups.

Shapes and delivers a uniform partnership across Digital & Robotics R&D projects for Supply Chain & SCR reviews.

Maintains and supports executional alignment across R&D to supporting functions/COEs.

Owns input and operational expertise for R&D management reviews, including scenario development, trade‑off implications and evaluation/assessment of capital improvement opportunities.

Responsible for leading Digital & Robotics RD LT meeting agendas and cadence, ensuring agenda‑driven membership, efficient decision making, and monitoring action items and progress against commitments.

Builds organizational knowledge of external R&D trends and best practices, applying where appropriate.

Consolidates and provides R&D input for senior ad‑hoc management requests, monthly reporting, quarterly executive management reviews, etc., formatting the consolidation into requested documentation.

Owns input across Digital & Robotics R&D organization in support of shaping G&Os that align R&D with key initiatives, goals and strategies through shared G&Os and progress reporting.

Owns and drives other strategic special initiatives to improve operational excellence and impact on innovation and growth.

Leads Digital & Robotics R&D organizational town halls and communication processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent is required.

Medical Device/Orthopaedics and/or Regulated Industry Experience is highly preferred.

Minimum of 15 years of people leadership is highly preferred.

Process optimization experience for multi‑disciplinary systems and capabilities in regulated industries.

Expert detailed orientation and organization.

Strong project & portfolio management skills in Digital organizations.

Strong change leadership skills.

Solid collaboration skills in complex environments.

Strong demonstration of succession management and accelerated innovation and growth in Digital & Robotics organizations.

Deep experience and business acumen in executing strategic plans.

Leverages partnerships with key constituents to deliver tangible results and clinical insights.

Successful background in driving delivery of key leveraged support services to product development.

Demonstrated leadership capability.

Experience in a highly matrixed business environment.

Influencing capabilities and indirect leadership of major change initiatives.

Actively drives a culture of innovation and develops an inclusive talent organization.

Track record of demonstrated effective change leadership and change management.

Effective decision making.

Experience in R&D transformations – building, scaling, and deploying.

Up to 25% domestic and international travel will be required.

Pay and Benefits Anticipated base pay range: 178,000 – 307,050.

Additional description for pay transparency: The Company maintains highly competitive, performance‑based compensation programs.
