The Sr Director Strategy & Operations R&D Digital & Robotics plays a critical strategic and operational role in ensuring the effective execution of our research & development strategy. This leader will be responsible for building and leading the execution of strategic R&D roadmap, initiatives, special projects and that deliver multi-platform improvements to people, culture, process, products and infrastructure opportunities identified in partnership with leadership.
Responsibilities
Drives R&D Budget planning process/updates, coordination and full consolidation/roll-up for Digital & Robotics R&D in partnership with other key leaders/supporting functions to ensure robust, well-coordinated, broadly thought-out budget plan across Digital & Robotics.
Serves as key Digital & Robotics R&D liaison with finance business partners. Provides day-to-day business partnership with Finance to deliver a best-in-class R&D financial plan that bridges across Robotics, Digital & Capital.
Lead Business partner for Digital & Robotics R&D on all special projects and/or critical business initiatives planning and consolidation for rollup (i.e. Gross profit, freshness index, NPV values and related).
Directly responsible for the administration of uniform operating mechanisms, process improvements; effectively leads and owns meeting setup, communications, is responsible for the content and cadence across project groups.
Shapes & delivers a uniform partnership across Digital & Robotics R&D projects for Supply Chain & SCR reviews.
Maintain and support executional alignment across R&D to supporting functions/COEs.
Owns input and operational expertise to R&D mgt reviews, including scenario development, trade-off implications and the evaluation/assessment of capital improvement opportunities.
Responsible to lead the Digital & Robotics RD LT meeting agendas and cadence. Ensure agenda-driven membership, meetings and efficient/effective decision making; monitor and track action items and plans to ensure rapid follow-through and progress against commitments.
Build organizational knowledge of external trends in R&D and best practices in Industry. Work with R&D Leadership to apply where appropriate.
Responsible to consolidate and provide R&D input required for Senior ad hoc management requests, monthly reporting, quarterly exec Mgt reviews, etc., as requested. Individual will take input from project teams and LT and own formatting the consolidation into requested documentation.
Owns input across Digital & Robotics R&D organization in support of shaping G&O’s that ensure alignment across R&D to key initiatives, goals and strategies through shared G&O’s and report of progress against those across R&D.
Ownership in shaping and helping drive other strategic special initiatives to improve our operational excellence and impact on innovation and growth.
Leads Digital & Robotics R&D organizational town halls and communications processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's level degree or equivalent is required
Medical Device/Orthopaedics and/or Regulated Industry Experience is highly preferred
Minimum of 15 years of people leadership is highly preferred
Process optimization for multi-disciplinary systems and capabilities in regulated industries
Expert detailed orientation and organization
Strong project & Portfolio management skills in Digital organizations
Strong change leadership skills
Solid collaboration skills, in complex environments
Strong demonstration of succession management and accelerated innovation and growth in the Digital & Robotics organizations.

Additional Description For Pay Transparency The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
