Primary Responsibilities The Senior Traffic Engineer will work as a member of the Traffic and Planning engineering design team, leading the design of traffic engineering projects to support clients in New England and across the national network. The role requires a thorough understanding of applicable design and safety standards, application of best practices, and leadership in traffic modeling, traffic studies, impact studies, capacity analyses, signal design, and traffic control plans for clients including MassDOT, MBTA, NHDOT, RIDOT, and the City of Boston. The candidate must be a self‑motivated professional who maintains a high level of professionalism while performing engineering assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification
Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification
Proficiency in Synchro SimTraffic and/or PTV Vissim
Preferred experience with MassDOT, CTDOT, RIDOT, MBTA, and Massachusetts municipalities
Preferred proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D; recommended experience with MicroStation OpenRoads
Experience in project management and/or lead traffic engineering responsibilities
Local candidates given preference
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections
Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (PE or P.Eng)
Knowledge of regulations of state and federal transportation agencies
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience using HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and other software packages
Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and ability to work in a team environment
