Managing Director and Associate General Counsel, Lead Audit Counsel – KPMG US
We are looking for an experienced legal professional to serve as the Lead Audit Counsel for KPMG’s Audit and Assurance Practice. The successful candidate will advise senior leadership on legal and regulatory matters, lead litigation and investigations, and support the development of guidance for our audit services.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary OGC contact for the Audit and Assurance Practice on legal and regulatory matters, and advise the Tax and Advisory functions as needed.
Organize the work of the Practice Advisory Group to support the Audit and Assurance Practice.
Stay current on legal and regulatory developments impacting the audit profession and advise the Practice accordingly.
Support the development of comment letters and guidance for Audit and Assurance Practice.
Qualifications
Minimum of 15 years of experience in a reputable law firm, government agency, or in‑house legal department; JD or LLM from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S.
Deep experience with civil litigation and regulatory investigations related to audits of public and private companies, and strong knowledge of securities laws and audit‑specific regulations.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and deliver high‑quality results in complex, sensitive environments.
Demonstrated collaboration skills and client‑service orientation within cross‑functional teams.
Leadership ability, high emotional intelligence, and capacity to influence stakeholders and navigate ambiguity.
Proactive mindset with appetite for innovation and technology adoption.
