Job Description Summary This role will serve as the Business Unit Compliance Officer for the Consumer Credit organization responsible for 2nd line compliance advisory and oversight globally. The position supports business initiatives related to PayPal Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) products, providing compliance advisory on new initiatives and oversight of core aspects of the Compliance program such as incidents and regulatory changes. It helps enable business priorities with sound compliance management practices and processes.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead complex projects and problem‑resolution efforts related to risk management.
Collaborate with teams to identify and analyze risks that may impact operations and assets.
Develop and implement strategies for risk mitigation and compliance.
Assess current business trends to inform risk‑management practices and improvements.
Drive global process improvements through effective project management and stakeholder engagement.
Expected Qualifications
8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Responsibilities and Preferred Qualifications Position Summary/Responsibilities: The role is the compliance point of contact for the Consumer Credit organization, supporting cross‑functional stakeholders in Global Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, and Product. Working directly with Product and senior leadership, the manager provides coordinated advisory services and support for business initiatives on behalf of Global Compliance.

In Your Day‑to‑Day Role You Will
Foster close relationships across cross‑functional stakeholders and work collaboratively to enable compliant and customer‑centric solutions within the Consumer and Product leadership team.
Define compliance requirements and ensure they are fully understood by stakeholders and integrated into product development lifecycle and roadmaps.
Provide subject‑matter expertise regarding identifying, assessing, prioritizing, and managing compliance risk including issue and incident management oversight, risk assessment, regulatory‑change management, and complaints monitoring.
Partner with the business to understand needs and assist in identifying and developing process and control improvements.
Collaborate with team members in the identification and assessment of compliance risks associated with new products and services.
Support the intake and review of product‑related initiatives—new products, enhancements, regional expansion, and deprecation—to ensure identification and mitigation of all risks and regulatory compliance.
Support ongoing and targeted compliance monitoring and/or testing by regulators, internal audit, first‑line testers, and second‑line testers.
Identify and influence action across potential areas of increased compliance risk, propose solutions, and provide guidance for future avoidance.
Provide regular updates and presentations to senior leadership on emerging risks, trends, and regulatory changes impacting products, services, and markets.
Provide input into the development of risk and compliance reviews for senior leadership, noting key focus areas and progress against established goals.
Escalate timely and actionable information to key stakeholders.
What Do You Need to Bring
Experience in compliance for financial services, banking, or payment systems, supporting business partners through product development stages.
Experience in compliance for credit and BNPL products preferred, as well as product‑specific compliance advisory support.
Excellent ability to analyze risks in complex business processes and recommend requirements and controls to mitigate those risks.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
Extensive experience partnering with and counseling senior business clients, particularly in a rapidly changing environment.
Excellent presentation and project‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously.
High energy, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and desire to work in a growing and changing environment.
Ability to multitask effortlessly and manage competing priorities under demanding deadlines.
Possess sound judgment, flexibility, and nimbleness in changing courses and solving problems swiftly and independently.
