Brief Description We are seeking a Sales Director for our Tellepsen Family Downtown Y to lead corporate and membership sales growth in a competitive downtown market. This role is accountable for implementing sales strategies that close the deal, increase revenue performance, and lead in a fast‑paced, metrics‑driven environment. The ideal candidate is a driven, results‑oriented sales leader with a proven record of exceeding targets and building corporate partnerships. The Sales Director is responsible for generating new corporate membership partnerships and driving revenue growth by proactively engaging businesses, housing communities, ISDs, government entities, and other organizational partners. This role focuses on prospecting, direct outreach, relationship development, and closing new partnerships, with a strong emphasis on in‑person engagement. The position supports membership growth by promoting YMCA programs, services, and membership opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting & Lead Generation: Actively source new leads through networking, outreach, cold calling, on‑site visits, community engagement, and referral development.

Territory Management: Maintain a robust pipeline of prospective partners and manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through agreement signing.

Corporate & Community Sales: Secure partnerships with corporations, multifamily housing, school districts, government agencies, and other community organizations to grow membership and program participation.

Event: Assist with developing and leading networking events.

Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with HR leaders, community managers, wellness coordinators, and organizational decision‑makers.

Provide consultative support to partners to help them understand YMCA benefits, services, and engagement opportunities.

Sales Support & Collaboration

Collaborate with the Executive Director of Corporate Partnerships to support proposal development, pricing structures, and partnership presentations.

Work closely with YMCA center staff to facilitate seamless onboarding, orientation, and engagement for new members.

Support retention by maintaining communication with partners and identifying opportunities for renewal or expansion.

Performance Tracking & Reporting

Track sales activity, pipeline status, outreach metrics and revenue progress in CRM systems.

Provide regular updates and reports to leadership with insights on performance, challenges, and emerging opportunities.

Market Awareness

Maintain awareness of local market trends, competitive landscape, and organizational wellness needs to inform outreach tactics and value positioning.

Requirements

Preferred Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, hospitality, or related field.

Four or more years of successful sales experience, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.

Ability to drive the sales process from start to finish.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.

Ability to quickly build rapport and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills.

Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and other sales software.

Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.

Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills.

CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Computer Literacy Skills are essential in all of the Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access. Ability to use these programs to lighten work load, develop reports and to automate procedures is very necessary. Ability to diagnose basic PC problems and to communicate those problems is very important.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
