Senior Financial Analyst – Stanford University
Location: Stanford, CA (Hybrid)
Experience level: Mid-Senior level
Overview Senior Financial Analyst position in the Office of the Vice Provost and Dean of Research (VPDOR). Responsible for advanced financial analysis, budgeting, compliance, and support for VPDOR units and initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead annual budget development, year-end close, and variance analysis.
Build, analyze, and present complex financial models and reporting to leadership.
Manage financial compliance policies and internal control programs.
Execute cross‑functional projects, process improvements, and system implementations.
Provide expert financial support and guidance to VPDOR units and initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or equivalent and six years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Knowledge of Oracle Financial Management System and other financial systems.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated project management ability and ability to work in a collaborative team.
Experience building independent financial models and preparing recommendations.
Physical Requirements
Constantly sitting; frequently perform desk‑based computer tasks.
Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry objects weighing 11–20 pounds.
Rarely reach/work above shoulder.
