What You’ll Do For Our Patients

Collaborate with medical providers and assistants on tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication.

Use professional judgment to apply x‑ray energy for the diagnosis and treatment of patients in all age groups.

Job Description The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with medical providers and/or assistants in the examination and treatment of UCSF‑GoHealth Urgent Care patients. The RT provides a variety of technical procedures and applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, performs and analyzes patient x‑rays, reports results to providers, and provides administrative support for efficient operation of the centers.

Job Requirements

Education : High School Diploma required; graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.

Work Experience : Experience in a clinical setting preferred.

Licenses and Certifications :

Basic Life Support (BLS) required at hire from AHA or ARC.

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at hire.

State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required if applicable by state law.

Essential Functions

Perform x‑ray services as needed under provider direction.

Position patients correctly and protect them during imaging, including pushing patients in a wheelchair when necessary.

Push patient in a wheelchair (as required).

Patient Preparation and Rooming

Inform technical staff of patient flow.

Prepare patients for examination through interviews, medical history verification, and purpose of visit confirmation.

Perform preliminary vital signs checks and elevate critical cases to providers.

Conduct point‑of‑care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide results to providers.

Administrative

Maintain medical records and scan charts into patient files.

Conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up.

Perform daily equipment controls, calibrations, quality assurance/control logging, troubleshoot breakdowns, preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets.

Other Responsibilities

Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine optimal imaging views.

Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.

Explain procedures to patients, ensure comfort and safety, and answer questions.

Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging.

Select proper ionizing factors and adjust radiographic controls for clear, high‑quality images.

Perform routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and manage supplies.

Adhere to radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA principles.

Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems or logbooks.

Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.

Knowledge

Knowledge of X‑ray procedures and protocols.

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X‑ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement.

Knowledge of radiology equipment and common safety hazards.

Skills

Accurate patient positioning.

Identification and correction of equipment problems.

Following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
