Parent Support Partner role at the Northern Lakes Community Mental Health Authority (NLCMHA) in Traverse City, MI.
As a parent or primary caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges, you will work under the Chief Population Officer or the Supervisor for Children and Families, and in partnership with the Child and Family Services Team. Your mission is to develop, enhance, and deliver a system of care that empowers families to move toward independence through skill‑building and peer‑to‑peer support.

Responsibilities
Work within NLCMHA's child and family provider team to ensure services align with the child and family's needs as identified in the IPOS.
Maintain current knowledge of mental health, trauma trends, and TF‑CBT training; complete 24‑hour child training per year.
Provide training and interventions to enable parents to improve their child's functioning.
Use personal recovery experience to teach cultural strengths and coping techniques, connect families to appropriate housing and resources.
Utilize advanced interpersonal and communication skills, including group services and formal presentations.
Serve as mentor, non‑judgmental guide, and source of hope.
Assist staff in identifying recovery‑conducive environments; share insights into mental illness recovery.
Provide information on CMH services, guidelines, and regulations.
Advocate for choice and voice in services for children and families.
Build partnerships with parents and professionals, promoting mutual respect.
Work directly with families in home and community settings to implement IPOS or treatment interventions.
Meet management expectations, currently set at 30% monthly.
Deliver services in office, community, and home environments.
Qualifications
18 years or older.
Parent or primary caregiver of a child with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
Knowledge of public mental health system, special education, juvenile justice, child welfare, and community resources.
Experience navigating child‑focused agencies, preferably public mental health.
Strong communication, social interaction, and engagement skills.
Ability to partner with families, youth, professionals, and community to plan and implement services.
Support family strengths in problem‑solving and solution‑seeking.
Comfort working with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Respectful, non‑judgmental attitude toward all.
Strong written, verbal, and listening skills.
Knowledge of community resources.
Basic computer competency.
Accepts guidance and assignments from supervisor and treatment team.
Pay $23.36–$26.23 per hour
