This role is full‑time (40 hours per week) and is available immediately. The position requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD per hour, which equates to $200,000 USD per year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.

Base pay range $100/hr – $100/hr

On‑site at one of our locations: Bethesda, MD; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Seattle, WA; or California (East Bay, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Santa Monica, Los Angeles). Relocation assistance will be provided for qualifying candidates.

What You Will Be Doing

Developing and coaching Guides to deliver Alpha’s workshops at world‑class standards

Building Guide Playbooks that outline facilitation best practices, design of engaging learning experiences, and strategies for overcoming obstacles

Delivering consistent, actionable coaching to Guides that elevates student engagement and outcomes

Personally coaching a small student cohort to demonstrate expert mentorship and motivational techniques

What You Won’t Be Doing

Creating traditional lesson plans – Guides support students working through adaptive platforms; your priority is equipping them to be outstanding motivators

Compromising on standards – when the passing benchmark is 100%, your role is to uphold that expectation

Running dull training sessions – you’ll develop Guides through dynamic, energizing, participatory learning

Director of Learning & Development Key Responsibilities Develop Guides and mentor students so that every learner in your cohort enjoys school, progresses at 2× speed, and acquires essential life skills. Accept nothing less.

Basic Requirements

Currently located in, or prepared to relocate for, on‑site work at an Alpha Campus (Bethesda, MD; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Fort Lauderdale, FL; Seattle, WA; or CA: East Bay (San Francisco), Palo Alto, Santa Monica, or Los Angeles)

Hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline.

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or related areas.

Proven track record of designing and executing innovative educational programs, curricula, or training solutions.

Exceptional leadership and coaching capabilities with a history of building, managing, and inspiring high‑performing teams.

Background working with young people (ages 5-18) in educational or developmental settings.

Skilled in data analysis and leveraging metrics to inform decisions and drive ongoing improvement.

Authorized to work legally in the United States.
