Primary Responsibilities The Senior Traffic Engineer will work as a member of the Traffic and Planning engineering design team, working with the civil engineer design team, on projects serving clients in the New England area and across the national transportation network. The position requires leading the design of traffic engineering projects to support our clients while meeting the fundamental obligation to prioritize the safety, health, and welfare of the public. This requires a thorough understanding of applicable design and safety standards and the application of best practices in the development of the design. The Traffic Department engages in several areas of design including traffic modeling, traffic studies and report preparation, traffic impact studies and presentation, capacity analyses, and the preparation of signal design and traffic control plans for clients throughout New England including MassDOT, MBTA, NHDOT, RIDOT, and the City of Boston. The candidate will need to be a self‑motivated individual who maintains a high level of professionalism while performing engineering assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification

Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification

Proficiency in Synchro SimTraffic and/or PTV Vissim

Preferred experience with MassDOT, CTDOT, RIDOT, MBTA, and Massachusetts municipalities

Preferred proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Recommended experience with MicroStation OpenRoads

Experience in project management and/or lead traffic engineering responsibilities

Local candidates given preference

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

A minimum of 10 years' experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways, major and minor interchanges and intersections

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

Knowledge of regulations of state and federal transportation agencies

Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Experience using HCS, CORSIM, Synchro/SIM Traffic and other software packages

Strong oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and ability to work in a team environment
