ASE is looking to hire an RF engineer as a technical authority and subject matter expert exploring new technologies for immediate insertion into Coast Guard programs. The person for this position will research new sensor technologies to detect broad spectrum RF signals, advancing the Coast Guard mission of maritime surveillance. This Hybrid position requires that you live within commuting distance from Alexandria, VA.

Responsibilities

Subject matter expert on RF broad spectrum signals, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) signal processing, traditional signal processing techniques, and RF transmission devices.

Experience and understanding of the current Coast Guard maritime domain awareness technologies to optimize RF transmission devices, antennas, and front-end RF hardware.

Understand current emerging RF technologies, spectrum-monitoring tools, AI/ML advancements, and relevant industry standards.

Strong understanding of RF transmission devices, antenna systems, and RF hardware architectures applicable to the Coast Guard maritime environment.

Conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, and performance evaluations of RF systems and subsystems.

Produce technical reports and recommendations, system models, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders to improve maritime domain surveillance requirements.

Collaborate in teams in a laboratory setting to test and investigate new technologies with the intent for immediate insertion into operational environments (land, sea or air).

Investigate integration of data into existing USCG systems.

Recommend system upgrades, additions, or removal dependent upon USCG approval.

Recommend policies, doctrine, tactics, and procedures based on expert opinion or analysis of actual outcomes.

Collaborate with engineering, research, and program management teams to guide system architecture and technology roadmaps.

Conduct periodic technical exchange meetings (TEMS) with Coast Guard for collaborative development sessions, program reviews, and design reviews.

Provide input to and review new Coast Guard technology requirements documents.

Propose solutions to maritime surveillance requirements gaps for Coast Guard.

Act as a subject matter expert on new maritime sensor technologies and related standards.

Support development of all technical documentation required by C5ISC SELC processes.

Produce reports (STR) in accordance with current USCG processes as required.

Provide input as requested by the USCG in the development of Engineering Change documentation.

Attend quarterly program management and technical working group meetings as directed.

Provide formal reports on deficiencies identified as directed by the COR.

Review accuracy of reports and documentation delivered as directed by the COR.

Qualifications

Must be a US Citizen able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Four (4) years of C4I System Engineering or RF engineering experience.

Four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in the field of Engineering.

Two (2) years’ experience with Coast Guard RF sensor technologies or engineering. (Alternatively, a candidate with eight (8) or more years of experience in RF sensor support may fulfill the minimum qualification requirements in lieu of the degree).

Familiarity with standards and protocols for RF communications and spectrum management.

Experience with signals Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Coast Guard RF technologies or other military RF technologies.

A Secret clearance is required.
