Biologist - Virology/Immunology (BSL-3) - NIH Kelly Government Solutions, a strategic supplier to the federal government, offers a long‑term contract position for a Biologist in the Virology/Immunology (BSL‑3) laboratory at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH, Bethesda, MD. Applicants will work onsite with NIH’s leading medical research center.

Responsibilities

Assist with the development of next‑generation universal influenza and betacoronavirus vaccines and antiviral therapeutics, including 1918 H1N1 and highly pathogenic avian influenza.

Use clinical and animal model samples to perform antibody titration and epitope analysis (HAI, NAI, ELISA) and viral microneutralization assays.

Perform high‑throughput screening for antiviral drugs and vaccine immune correlate studies.

Perform molecular biology techniques, including RNA isolation, molecular cloning, and PCR.

Perform cell culture, viral and vaccine stock production.

Work in BSL‑2 and BSL‑3 laboratories, using a personal air‑purifying respirator (PPAR).

Perform single‑cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‑seq) on the 10x Genomics platform, including prep of single‑cell suspensions.

Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment; upkeep and routine maintenance for the project.

Maintain detailed records and reports of experiments and prepare information for laboratory meetings and publications.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in molecular biology, virology, or immunology.

Minimum two years of research experience in a BSL‑3 environment with PPAR respiratory protection.

Experience with antibody titration and characterization assays.

Experience with high‑throughput immunology/virology screening assays preferred.
