Base pay range $85,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr
Kelly Government Solutions has multiple openings for Biologists – Virology & Immunology (BSL-3 Lab) to work on‑site with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD.
Key Tasks
Assist with the development of next‑generation universal influenza and betacoronavirus vaccines and antiviral therapeutics to treat respiratory disease, including 1918 H1N1, highly pathogenic avian, and zoonotic influenza infections.
Use clinical and animal model samples to perform antibody titration and epitope analysis, including hemagglutination inhibition (HAI), neuraminidase inhibition (NAI), and enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and viral microneutralization assays.
Perform high‑throughput screening for antiviral drugs and/or vaccine immune correlate studies.
Perform molecular biology techniques, including RNA isolation, molecular cloning, and PCR.
Perform cell culture, viral stock, and vaccine stock production.
Perform work in biosafety level 2 and 3 (BSL‑2 and BSL‑3) virology laboratory, including use of a personal air purifying respirator (PPAR).
Perform single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‑seq) using the 10x Genomics platform, including preparing single‑cell suspensions.
Provide upkeep and routine maintenance for project, maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment.
Maintain detailed records and reports of experiments and their results and prepare the information resulting from these experiments for presentations at laboratory‑wide meetings and for publication.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a focus in molecular biology, virology, or immunology.
Minimum of 2 years of research experience that includes work in BSL‑3 environment with PPAR respiratory protection.
Experience with antibody titration and characterization assays.
Experience with high‑throughput immunology/virology screening assays preferred.
