The iconic Hotel del Coronado is looking for a

Banquet Captain

to join the Banquet team. Situated on Coronado Island just minutes from Downtown San Diego, this 28‑acre historic resort was built in 1888 and boasts over 750 rooms, 65,000 square feet of banquet space, and 10 food‑and‑beverage outlets, including four restaurants, two bars, a food truck, marketplace, ice‑cream shop, and in‑room dining.

After a $400M renovation and expansion, the resort continues to offer a quintessential al fresco dining experience with spectacular ocean views. The Veranda menu features American favorites inspired by Southern California roots, with classic cocktails and a California‑forward wine list.

Classification: Full‑time

Shift: Various – must be available weekdays, weekends and holidays

Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour plus commission

Responsibilities

Supervise food and beverage service throughout banquet functions to ensure quality service and product quality.

Supervise and manage all staff associated with each event/function.

Assist with planning, organizing and executing all banquet functions, including breakfast, coffee breaks, luncheons, dinners, cocktail receptions, galas, etc.

Greet and welcome client representatives and guests, responding to requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.

Participate in and lead department meetings.

Process banquet checks accurately and efficiently for payment.

Ensure guest satisfaction throughout the meal service.

Serve alcoholic/non‑alcoholic beverages in compliance with federal, state, local and company regulations.

Direct and motivate banquet staff to ensure efficient service and adherence to service standards, company policies and compliance regulations.

Collaborate with other departments (culinary, event planning) to ensure seamless event execution.

Oversee proper setup and breakdown of banquet rooms, including furniture, equipment and table settings.

Assist guests with seating and overall satisfaction.

Monitor servers and ensure proper service standards are followed.

Manage banquet supplies and ensure sufficient inventory.

Inspect cleanliness and presentation of all banquet areas, equipment, china and staff dress code.

Address any issues or requests that arise during the event.

Communicate with guests, staff and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Assist in training new staff and provide ongoing coaching and guidance.

Ensure all safety and security procedures are followed.
