Winsert is seeking qualified candidates for a
Maintenance Technician
in South Bend, Indiana! This vacancy will be located at a production machine shop that utilizes CNC equipment to support close tolerance and complex components. CNC equipment consists of horizontal milling, 5th axis milling, mill/turn and lathe styles ranging in capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience in CNC machine maintenance, repair, and optimization. Familiarity with Mazak machinery is a plus!
Pay : $30 - $38 per hour depending on experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Troubleshoot, prioritize, and perform mechanical/electrical repairs on all production equipment.
Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubrication, and component inspection, to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal machine performance.
Work with technical support resources to assist in troubleshooting and repair activities.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications.
Identify, order, and install replacement parts for CNC machines and related systems.
Use of various measuring equipment (micrometers, dial calipers, depth mics, surface gauges, dial indicators, etc.) and all types of hand tools (hammers, punches, screw drivers, hack saws, socket wrenches, hex wrenches, pinch bars, etc.) at high frequency.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Collaborate with operations and engineering, to address machine issues, anticipate impact to production, and improve processes.
Collaborate with leadership to ensure preventative maintenance schedule is on time and on budget to ensure smooth operations and reduce machine downtime.
Fabrication may be necessary to complete repair functions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong understanding of CNC machine operation, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and machine controls.
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex machine problems efficiently.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Strong communication skills are necessary to communicate effectively with team members, technical support resources, and vendors.
Knowledge of OSHA & environmental laws/requirements.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent time management, problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Vision must be correctable to allow reading/viewing of documents and computer screen.
Hearing must be correctable to allow understanding of instructions and communication with others.
Mobility and coordination must allow for required tasks to be performed.
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing.
Frequent lifting of weights 50-100#. Occasional lifting over 100# and/or operation and use of overhead cranes/lifting devices.
Exposure to machines and chemicals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance, machining, and/or tooling.
Experience with Mazak machinery preferred.
Journeyman card, technical diploma, or Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
