General Description NOVA Workforce Division is seeking a Nurse Aide Instructor to teach at ALL three Nurse Aide locations (Reston, Woodbridge and Alexandria) Lab and Clinical. (This is not an online teaching position). Must reside in the DC, VA, MD DMV area.

Responsibilities

Use the State of Virginia Board of Nursing curriculum to prepare nurse aide students to successfully complete the nurse aide certification exam.

Essential Functions As part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with college policies, procedures, and regulations.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned, including assistance to the agency or state government during an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Hold a current, unrestricted Virginia license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with multistate licensure privilege.

Have at least one year of direct client care or supervisory experience in the provision of geriatric long‑term care services within the last 5 years.

One year of experience as a nurse within the previous 5 years and at least one year of experience in the provision of long‑term care services (includes experience such as employment in a nurse aide program, employment or supervision of nursing students in a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care or other long‑term care setting).

Hold a current Nurse Aide Instructor training certification (can be provided upon successful hire).

Additional Considerations

Experience teaching adult learners from a diverse population.

BSN or higher preferred.
