Horner & Shifrin is seeking a full-time Assistant Regional Manager for our Structural Building business unit. This position requires 10+ years of experience.
Position Responsibilities
Delivers profit within their respective service line.
Monitors accounts receivable within their service line and facilitates the collection of unpaid invoices.
Monitors trends and developments within the industry and proactively positions the Firm to take advantage of opportunities.
Monitors project manager performance within their respective business unit and provides guidance throughout the project duration to ensure projects are executed within the contract scope, schedule, and budget established in the contract.
Serves as an ambassador for their business unit by communicating their expertise and capabilities to employees outside their business unit.
Cultivates a challenging and supportive climate within the business unit to foster high employee satisfaction, performance, growth, and commitment.
Directly and indirectly supervises employees in the Structural Business Unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities by the Firm’s policies and procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees; planning, assigning, delegating, timesheet and expense review and approval; achieving staff utilization goals and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Regularly reviews workload projections and resources and recommends adjustments as necessary to fulfill commitments. Review invoices, cost data, schedules, and budgets with appropriate managers to ensure completion on a timely basis.
Proactively coordinates with business development staff to maintain a proper backlog level.
Identifies and converts new business opportunities to contract backlog.
Direct relationship building, potential project development, proposal development, and contracting between the Firm and clients. Seeks opportunities to cross-sell other H&S services to clients.
Coordinate and interface with sub-consultants, other internal offices, and external agencies.
Prepare contracts and subcontracts as required. Conduct pre-design and progress meetings on projects and advise all affected and interested individuals in other disciplines of meetings, project progress, and current project schedule.
Monitor the technical quality and conformance to the client’s requirements of the work products (reports, plans, specifications, etc.) completed for the project; coordinate with other business unit leaders to promote the completion of quality work.
Provide input and data to the business unit leader with project-required workload projections regularly.
Work with the business unit leader to determine raises, billing rates, utilization goals, and revenue budgeting for their region. Monitor staff performance to achieve business unit goals.
Coordinate supervision of others to develop detailed designs and preparation of construction drawings and specifications, including quality control verification.
Coordinates with the business unit leader and technical operations director regarding errors and omissions issues.
Perform project manager duties, primarily limited to major projects of high complexity.
Other duties as assigned by their business unit leader.
Position Requirements
Licensed Professional Engineer (required).
Licensed Structural Engineer (preferred).
10+ years of progressively senior experience in Structural Buildings required. Strong preference for experience in water and wastewater, light industrial, or energy sectors.
Established leadership in the area(s) of expertise with a high degree of practical and theoretical knowledge, foresight, and sound judgment in advising and guiding work in the specialty area.
Proven experience in marketing/sales, business development activities, capital improvement projects, and proposal development.
Demonstrated and quantifiable management and technical skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Critical thinking and analysis.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must complete a background check.
Educational Requirements Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Salary Range Salary will be commensurate with experience.
