Forester 2 – Commerce – Forestry – Lincoln County Overview:

Under general supervision, works at a training level with specialization in technical and field work. Primary responsibilities include forest management in Lincoln County, fire prevention, preparedness, and suppression; delivering fire‑prevention messages; recruiting, training, and checking equipment for forest fire wardens, patrollers and firefighters; supervising and directing forest fire suppression efforts; investigating forest fires; conducting spot checks and complaint investigations on logging operations; aiding logger training and assisting with the Logging Sediment Control Act; providing technical assistance to landowners, preparing stewardship plans, and reviewing reports of insect and disease; providing assistance to other agencies and employees as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in a Forest Technology program recognized by the Society of American Foresters (SAF) or a Bachelor’s degree in a forestry program accredited by SAF.

One year of full‑time or equivalent part‑time paid experience in forestry.

Current license as a registered professional forester or registered forestry technician, or be in the process of obtaining professional licensure.

Valid driver’s license.

Must pass a physical examination within the first six months of employment and submit to annual follow‑up examinations.

Positions must meet the qualifications for and become a Special Natural Resources Police Officer at the earliest opportunity and maintain the commission (waivable at the discretion of the State Forester).
