Paraeducator Special Education – Anoka-Hennepin School District Full-Time: 184 days / 6.5 hrs/day

Duties:

Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center-based settings. Responsibilities may include:

Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom)

Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.)

Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.

Completion of 60 semester/90 quarter credits or an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passing the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam. Documentation required.

Good communication, interpersonal and record‑keeping skills.

Ability to work with technology and computers.

Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff, supervise students, take direction, and maintain regular attendance.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds and perform physical tasks such as toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures, implementing a behavioral management program, maintaining student data, and working with students who may display aggressive or inappropriate behavior.

Must be physically working in the building.

Pay:

$20.00–$27.30/hour depending on experience and credentials. Additional $0.50/hour for 50% or more center‑based work; $1.00/hour for Two Rivers Transition Program or River Trail Learning Center.

Start Date:

ASAP

Insurance benefits available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day.
